I missed Shield on my first play through as well, but I thought it had been tweaked so that you'd more reliably see it.
(I think one of the Hidonites is supposed to cast it as soon as it is resurrected?)

I had a mild panic attack when I discovered there's exactly one enemy from Cyan's Soul that had a rage, but luckily I found it on the Veldt pretty quickly, lol.

2.1 adjusts Hidon's AI to make it much less likely to miss Shield.
