No game is without bugs and glitches. We did our very best to get them all out. Yet there's always a chance some were missed. Something that's bothering me however is the fact that some of these bugs only occur with certain people. In any case, address anything wierd happening to you here and i'll look at them before the sever upload. So far, known issues are:

General issues:

  • The reward for doing exceptionally well in Midas River is reported incorrectly (content mode only, actual reward is correct)
  • The Sky Bridge minigame reward for Normal and Special reports coins erroneously (content mode only, actual reward is frog coins)
  • Taking the secret path to the Nimbus Land hot springs causes a temporary graphical glitch
  • One time, Mario was able to enter Luma's shop while trading frog coins for galaxy coins, resulting in them getting swapped
  • In Rose Way, it's possible for a platform to be in the wrong place (leave and re-enter to fix this)
  • Losing to a certain, unknown boss causes Rosalina to teleport you to Rose Way instead of the proper location

Text issues:

  • Rosalina says "no longer effect" instead of "no longer affect" (content mode only)
  • May says "beleive" instead of "believe" (content mode only)

Issues that may occur if patching is done incorrectly:

  • Snowy causes the game to freeze.

Issues that should be fixed:

  • Once-a-battle items are not reset prior to the ultimate boss
  • The cheep cheep in kero sewers that jumps onto the land causes the galaxy coin counter to reset to 3
  • Encountering certain enemies (e.g. Sparky in the Moleville Mines) disables collision when running from all enemies (enter Rose Way from TP to fix this)
  • Poisoning or burning Doom Cake during the final phase results in an erroneous 32k heal every turn (this has no effect on the fight itself however)
  • Running into the hole to visit the Nimbus Land hot springs causes a temporary graphical glitch
  • The fan in the far west area of Nimbus Castle does not look correct
  • Dying to Long Gui sends the player to pre-Yaridovich Seaside Town instead of post-Yaridovich (leave or beat Yaridovich to fix this)
  • Once a battle items are not reset prior to fighting General Guy (initial encounter)
  • Beating Mysterious Girl does not award 30 Galaxy coins
  • The Shell of Light does not actually block instant KO like the others
  • Doing the FF Boss Rush after challenging May will result in a black screen after the first battle (lose FF boss rush or start trial mode to fix this)
  • During trial mode, Yaridovich can be targeted before the Flunkies, resulting in strange bugs
    • Also happens with Mack and Bowyer after first cycle
  • Paragon does not respawn upon refighting Smithy
  • Special encounter in Moleville Mines (talking vs animation)
  • Iron Duke (name)
  • Debilitate (description)
  • Hidden Chest Guy (There still # left.)
  • When Peach gets Aromatherapy
  • Shirt/Pants/Dress of Light (description)
  • Pixie Dust (description)
  • Super Hammer (description)
  • Ultra Shroom (description)
  • Capturing Mesprit text (You captured Mespirit!)
  • Gold bar storage (You now have # Gold Bars strored.)
  • Various other text issues
  • Bowyer hits too hard with Shocker for the point in the game
  • Bowyer's Flunkies have too much evasion
  • Punchinello has too much HP
  • The first save file gets wiped when using most ally spells (SNES Classic only)
  • The game freezes when an enemy uses Disable(SNES Classic only)
  • Spark shot is graphically corrupted(SNES Classic only)

Is the immortal Valentina glitch fixed for this release? I know it's just a simple value change from the "Lifes" mechanism, but some small things like that may have slip up. Just wanted to point it out just in case.

Arent u supposed to get 20 galaxy coins after beating Mack? Maybe i misread it but thats what i read. But i noticed that i only have 9 galaxy coins and im on Rose way... if im wrong about the 20 galaxy coin reward then oopsie, otherwise it seems like a bug,

You must first save all of the toads in the kingdom being attacked by shysters. After mack, the game checks to see if you've done that.

hmm.. i thought i did that, it did say i received 20 galaxy coins or something i think, even tho i didnt get it.

If you can reproduce the issue to confirm and tell us exactly which shysters you defeated, I'll add it to the list and look into it :)

I already beat mack so i cant go back to the shysters, and i dont feel like making a new file and getting there again tbh. But i think i defeated all the ones that dont respawned, i mightve missed someone tho, but if the 20 galaxy coin msg isnt supposed to show up if i didnt beat the shysters, then idk why i got the msg.

It's very hard for me to believe that you got the message but not the galaxy coins, hence why I'm asking for you (or someone else) to confirm it.

Snowy might be an issue with either the smrpg rom used, the emulator being used or a combination of both because I haven't encountered any issues with using snowy and I used mallow primarily as my aoe mage for all of the base story.

I can confirm this too, I beat Mack and got the 20 Galaxy coins (I checked to make sure and had 28 Galaxy coins) but somewhere between beating Mack and completing Midas River 3 times I went back to having 7 Galaxy coins.

Did you notice anything strange with your frog coins?

Also, could you describe what you did between Mack and Rose Way?

then i'll do a full investigation and find out what the hell happened.

After Mack, went to get the cricket jam, went to check on Yoshi in Mario's Pad, then went to Kero Sewer, I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, opened all visible chests, skipped Black Shy Guy, used a Boo to climb to the pipe above the Save block, picked the Galaxy Coin in the purple room, defeated Belome, all without any death, and did Midas River, I did it 3 times to pick all Frog/Galaxy coins and Flowers.

Also, yeah, when I checked I had 42 Frog Coins alongside the 7 Galaxy Coins, I did get 20 Frog coins doing Midas River but I don't remember where I got the other 22 (Aside from the few that you can get during the waterfall part of Midas River).

EDIT: If it helps, I'm playing using RetroArch 1.7.2 with Snes9x 1.56.2 Core

Yeah I got 3 Camping Set if I recall correctly.

Frog coins values have been increased for version 9.

So I just tried multiple times with the exact same version of retroarch and the snes9x core, but I'm not reproducing this.

Is anyone able to record this happening, or have reproducible steps?

Alright im at rose town now, and this time the 20 galaxy coins seem to have saved.

We have yet to find out the mystery behind the disappearing Galaxy coins. But its something between when you get them and the end of Midas River.

Well, even so, maybe you know the answer to these questions:

  • You saw the blue platform after coming from the entrance right?  Not from where the shy guys are, for example.
  • When the blue platform was sitting there, had you entered Rose Way before?
  • If yes to the above, did you do anything in Rose Way besides go from the beginning to end, optionally collecting chests and coins along the way?

Yeah from the entrance.
i think it was the first time i entered rose way.

No, i couldnt go very far because i needed the blue platform to be normal so i could use it. I probably collected some kind of coins tho, because i think theres some coins before the part where i cant go any further.

Curious... that means the flag was corrupted before you ever touched the platforms...

Well i did touch platforms but not the one that was blue.

Like moving while i was in the level? I have no idea if it moved before i saw the block, but i dont remember seeing it move when i was looking at it.

Btw i have a weird thing to report, sometimes i do ridicoulous damage, like 100K
For example vs Axem red my mario shell attack did over 100K damage, (my mario was boosted i believe, and axem got whirled meaning his defense was lower, but over 100K seems like alot)
and my other time was when mallow did 100k to 3 enemies with snowy, i believe mallow was boosted by geno, but 100k seems like more than it should be.
i think theres been like one other time with 100k damage but im not sure, so yea.

I thought Water Skip from Kero Sewers was fixed, but it seems to be still there in the current version when you swim almost above the underwater pipe

Look closer at the number.  There's a period there.

Nope, it was left in for anyone that knows the secret!

Fixing the water skip would require me to tamper with the levels Solidfy titles...which is something I'd rather not mess with since so many of them are linked...so I decided to leave it.

Not sure if this is a bug, but when i loaded my save in bean valley (where the piranhas get watered) and even when they got watered they wouldnt grow lol, it works now after i entered the lvl again (i died and then reentered but i doubt the dying part matters)

From watching the beta testing I learned that the Final Fantasy bosses/hidden encounters and everything not related to the Mario series do not appear until Smithy is beaten, but I just encoutered a horde of Cactuars in Land's end. Is this a bug or a feature?

I was wondering the same when i accidentally encountered a certain powerful flower enemy when i finished watching the cutscene at the end of Rose Way (which btw it has a really nice new sprite animation)

They originally refered themselves as Black and Yellow..unfortunity, SWJs might see this as racist..so I changed the Dialoge..but I didn't bother to edit the animations.

For some reason the guy that blows u back has this weird animation when it blows, it disappears and reappears and when its reappeared its on the side for some reason? its weird.. also in the pic where it shows him, theres smthin red next to him thats not there when hes not there. 

 

(also u cant battle him but im thinking thats intentional)

I just lost to a Long Gui, then on the way back to the hidden area behind the tree, I walked right into Yaridovich disguising himself as toads.

And not just as sprites, it reverted my story progression!

I guess I'll fight him and see what happens next

When he dies, that's it, no further story

It's like none of that even happened

In other words: All it is, is a way to farm free kerokola-3

That was the weirdest bug I've ever experienced in this hack since the invisible npc bug in version 7.5

It's a surprisingly simple bug: losing to Long Gui sends you to the pre-Yaridovich Seaside Town. Entering the "boss zone" from there triggers the Yaridovich fight.

No flags are affected though, so you should be fine otherwise.

I'd call it an exploit tbh.

I just found out that the answer is NO

I guessed the prize correct though.

I think Bahamut's psychopath message states the wrong amount of health.

In the Lazy Shell editor, it says if "insert memory here" = 8, remove self, which translates to 240K health, while the psychopath message says 120K health.

Same is true for Arceus. Psychopath states 210K, while the battle script says if "insert memory here" = 9, remove self, which translates to 270K health.

Azelf psychopath states 150K, battle script states if "insert memory here" = 6 (180K) remove self. Same for Uxie, Mesprit is correct value though (memory = 5)

Trial Mode Belome psychopath message states 30K, battle script states if memory = 2 (60K) remove self.

Trial Mode Booster psychopath message states 90K, battle script states if memory = 4 (120K) remove self.

General Guy psychopath message states 90K, battle script states if memory = 4 (120K) remove self.

Goddess psychopath message states 120K, battle script states if memory = 5 (150K) remove self.

Lapras psychopath message states 210K, battle script states if memory = 8 (240K) remove self.

Lunar Bahamut psychopath message states 120K, battle script states if memory = 7 (210K) remove self.

Magikoopa psychopath message states 30K, battle script never states anything about leaving the battle (no issues with the fight though) but it does state if memory = 2 (60K) do some things then clear the memory.

Manager HP states 25K, psychopath message states 30K.

Omega psychopath message states 150K, battle scripts states if memory = 8 (240K) remove self.

Ozma psychopath message states 150K, battle script states if memory = 4 (120K) remove self. I suggest increasing Ozma's health to 150K, otherwise the battle is too easy. (that's just my opinion though)

All 4(?) trial mode snifits psychopath message states 30K, battle script states if memory = 3 (90K) remove self. This one is just comfusing in so many different ways.

Snorlax psychopath message states 240K, battle script states if memory = 9 (270K) remove self.

Trial Mode Yaridovich psychopath message states 120K, battle script states if memory = 3 (90K) remove self.

Yiazmat psychopath message states 300K, battle script states if memory = 6 (180K) remove self. Remember when this guy had 600K outside of the FF boss rush?

I know that psychopath has been removed, but it's technically still wrong. Also, why the hell does Mesprit have less health than Azelf and Uxie?

I found a new typo: Peach learned "Aromtherapy". Should be "Aromatherapy.

psychopath doesn't exist in v.9. I didn't bother to edit the text because it's kind of pointless. Just got a little lazy I guess... :P 

I have no idea why I gave mespirit lesser health. If anything, it should have been the other way around...

i think in the hard mode xion hp will be close to 1 milhon  or 900K we will know when hard mode comes out

There would be a memory overflow probably.

If the highest value a memory address can reach is 255, then the highest possible hp (that is with the actual health being 30K) is 7650000.

Nah, multiple counters could be stacked if we really wanted.

One way to make the limit higher is to do what DK did with

The REAL limit depends on how many memory addresses there is.

There's a total of 16 different addresses.

I managed to find the exact bug and reproduce it at any time. the bug actually happens in the first map of Kero Sewers, once inside, while standing near the upper area while the water has not been drained, when a Cheep cheep jumps and appears on the screen for a little until jumping back to the water, it sets your Galaxy Coins to 3. I started a new game to try to find the bug but I also managed to reproduce it on my older save file.

Sorry for making Armageddon seem broken, but I found another bug.

After beating Pokémon trainer may, I couldn't move while jumping. It fixed itself after exiting the area though.

wow you are  a genius  you found another bug

Same bug I mentioned earlier happens after beating Dawn and presumably Red as well.

Same bug does NOT happen after defeating Red as you are sent back to the world map immediately.

However, I did not get a prize for beating him :no:

Celebi and the Galaxy Star does not come back between wave battles like the pokémon trainers and the boss rushes.

Here's the result of killing trial mode Yaridovich (and I'm guessing it's the same for Mack and Bowyer, I never tested it) in the one turn where you can target him while his drill bits are present: I had the chance to kill all 5 targets with a Geno Flurry, so I wanted to see what would happen. 3 of the drill bits died one after another, then Yaridovich followed, the 4th drill bit stayed and became immortal.

So whatever you do: DON'T KILL HIM UNLESS HE IS ALONE!

Update on Celebi and the Galaxy Star: You get them back once you get to the menu.

This could be bad if you need to use them a lot in the pokémon trainer battles or the FF Boss Rush.

Don't think they're suppose to come back in the poke trainer battles and ff boss rush except for the final battle of said ff boss rush as they aren't treated as next battles. Only when you get to a menu use like before the final fight of the ff boss rush or the times in the regular boss rush from rosalina.

Something went horribly wrong with this message.

I understand that they're not treated as separate battles, but it could make things frustrating late into the FF Boss Rush if they're used early on.

 

My so called spoilers have disappeared, that's good.

Just encountered what I'd call a graphical glitch. I used a Celebi when it was on the bottom of the last row, and the next time I went to the items menu, the cursor was still on the empty spot that Celebi was previously on. It corrected itself after I moved the cursor.

Here's something that might be a bug of some sort: When you complete the sidequest for Daisy's ring, you are then able to give her a Gold Flower to get a new Special for Mario, and if you give her a second Gold Flower, she will increase you max FP to 70, after this, she says that she can increase your FP even further if you give her a third Gold Flower, however, when I bring the third one she says that it will have no effect, but maybe a different kind of flower. I've seen what it means by watching an old beta test by smbai (at least I THINK it was by him), but I don't remember where I can get this "Shiny Flower". (I looked in Lazy Shell to see if it was still a thing and it is) I increased my FP to 99 by beating the Shadow Queen, so it's nothing major, but I'm still kinda bothered by the fact that she still asks for a different flower when there doesn't seem to be a way to get one.

The only things I have not done yet is the solo persona battle with Mario and Mallow, the final fight in trial mode (could never even get a hit on the witch), the FF Boss Rush and Xion. I've done everything else so if anybody knows if it's even possible to get the Shiny Flower and how to get it, I'd like to know, thanks!

Edit: I just looked back at smbai's stream and saw that he got it by completing the beanstalk by giving the seed and fertilizer to the gardener. Was it changed or removed?

If it was removed, why does Daisy still mention it?

I'm not sure about this one, but I think my Bowser got insta-killed by a diamond saw while wearing his shell of light, which is supposed to block insta-kills.

While I'm on the topic of equipment of light, there is a misspelling in the description of the dress of light. "Resists elements and block KO".

It should be "blocks" not "block".

Same for the shirt of light and the pants of light. the cape of light and the shell of light is correct though.

I'll check everything in the "items" section of Lazy Shell for more misspellings that have not been caught yet.

The boss rushes (including the trainer battles) are deliberately stricter when it comes to once-a-battle item usage.  However, I was under the impression you got them back after every fight in the FF boss rush?

The bug with killing everyone in boss rush has already been reported and fixed.

Shiny Flowers can be found in Shadow Palace.  Daisy's dialogue is that way because of reasons...

Pixie Dust description spells "dramatically" as "dramatially".

Super Hammer description has two periods.

Ultra Shroom description says "removes stats reduction", should be "removes stat reduction" if I'm not mistaken.

There's also a bunch of other "blocks" and "resists" that's missing an S at the end.

You can get shiny flowers from dark dayzee's in the shadow palace. You can encounter them in the room with the cloaked mage looking dudes.

Bowser and mario have lowish magic defense compared to everyone else so its possible you was killed by the damage. Was there a damage number or did he just drop dead with no number showing up?

After the report, I confirmed that Shell of Light (and only Shell of Light!) does not provide mortality protection.

I can confirm that they do indeed come back between fights in the FF Boss Rush. Thank god!

I think I found an exploit: If you kill Penance's left arm (the one called left arm, not the arm on the left) and then ignore th right arm and just focus on Penance, the left arm never respawns.

Same thing would most likely happen if you killed the right arm and ignored the left one, but why do that when it's the left one that uses black hole?

I think the arms should still reappear after a certain number of turns wether you've killed both or not.

That has to do with the moving platforms. As long as you're standing on one, you can't open the menu, but if you jump and try to open the menu...

That plant never had collission since v7 . I imagine it has to do with using that collission for the entrance at the bottom right or for something else

When you lose to Jinx in Mostro Town, it kicks you to the world map. Was this intended?

Just as a suggestion, I think that some bosses should have more than 30K HP, even for Easy Mod. Boss battles feel kinda short with all the damage you can deal in this version.

well every "life" caps at 30K HP due to the number limit sadly. going over the 32656 limit puts their HP into the negatives.

Yeah, I'm aware of the "life" system. But some early boss fight seem to short. It might just be me though.

The game does not show how much EXP you need to level up from 30 to 31.

Just a side note but I have been having such a blast with Armageddon. I'm really enjoying the fact that enemies have attacks that make sense for them to have. It's also fun to figure out block timing. Really awesome job Darkkefka!

And regarding the level 30 exp, yeah.  While there were many things we fixed in the menus to suit armageddon in v9, there are a few menus that still think level 30 is the max.

heres basically the same issue but with another boss: Im not sure which boss it was but it was in the cave u can jump into at lands end, i believe it was the last boss there or the second 2 last, either way it said i received galaxy coins but i dont think i got them.

Elite Wizards perform a glitchy animation before they cast a dark orb from the Shadow Palace

On the trial mode, i got asked if i wanna continue, so i pressed yes and i started at punchinello... even tho the boss i died at was Birdo, valentina, dodo.

It resets you from the last checkpoint you passed.

Basically, you hit a checkpoint every time you get to the menu.

You get to the menu before the valentine, dodo, birdo fight. And before the johnny fight, which is the fight before dodo birdo and valentine.

That one doesn't count as it's there before and after the Johnny fight to give you a chance to change Mario's equipment.

My game got messed up before facing boomer and the menu wouldn't load properly. Also after beating exor i got to the gate and couldn't see Mario on the screen at all.

There's a bug-made-feature in v9 where if you resist the element, full break won't be applied.

I'm testing the Goomba thumping minigame again and it seems like you don't get 10 galaxy coins even if you are over 30 or less 50 points sometimes. Getting 30 galaxy coins for 50 points works pretty fine tho

Upon defeating the remaining Drillbit, the battle did not end. I could do all actions, but when I chose to attack with any of the characters, they would zoom off the the right side of the screen indefinitely. I did find a work around using Mario's jump to attack a single target which remedied the issue.

Second bug was during the FF Boss Rush. After the first fight, the game softlocks. There's no specifics to that one though in terms of gameplay. The only thing I can note really is that I'm using a USA, .smc ROM, but I don't know if that's the cause of the lock.

That's all that I have to report for now.

The first bug was a result of being able to target Yarid on the first turn on which his drill bits come back after being killed at least once.

The second was due to having a bad rom. (It's supposed to be .sfc)

That's 20K, there is a small dot between the zeros, so it actually says "20.0K"

 

I don't mind which games are you into or which wallpaper are you using for your desktop. The only thing i am concerned is the low res pic you are using for wallpaper lol

The small dot is a part of the last number before the K, fyi.

A few not so important bugs to report. Dying on Smilax moves you to a Rose's Way map to be greeted by Rosalina and then get kicked out of the map. Dying on Birdo moves you to Sea map.

Another thing I noticed once is that a Pinwheel enemy in the left corridor from the main entrance in Nimbus Palace has a glitchy animation.

When DK sees all of this he's gonna cry.

Well, I'm glad you've enjoyed the game all the way up to boss rush :D and actually used the supported emulator unlike some people...

Does it always crash in the same spot?  If so, could you send me your save state from before entering FF boss rush?  It's the .00# file in the Saves folder.

Yup im about to fight Smithy and all my characters at lvl 100 have the same Specials as you. I have Royal Guard on Mallow because thats your reward for beating the Valentina solo fight as the only difference.

Discord is fine.  If you join the server, you should see the moderators on the right.  You can just message one (read the rules first).

From what I've heard, you can only fight them if the Angel Tiara is not present in your equipment inventory. So if you want to re-fight them, you gotta ditch the Angel Tiara.

I think i found a typo: in version 9 beta elisabeth uses a spell named 'megidolaon', and in this version it says 'megidoloan' :/ 

I can't say I was able to recreate this, but this is indeed worthy of a bug report.

Was in the process of swapping frog coins for galaxy coins at the Luma shop and somehow was able to open Luma's galaxy coin shop before the transaction had actually happened. Didn't get a recording of it, but I had a lot of frog coins before and 18 galaxy coins, the numbers were swapped to 18 frog coins and 900+ galaxy coins. I've not yet been able to replicate it happening, but considering the game code and all that, something could go horribly wrong other than it being a Super Coin Swap.

I don't know if this was mentioned or not but, why can't I use Galaxy Star in the General Guy battle?

I imagine it's not getting reset prior to the fight due to a bug.  If you enter a different fight and don't use it, you should be able to use it for General Guy.

Woah, I had something weird happen to me. So, I was fighting against Kaiser Dragon and had Geno equipped with the Lazy Shell and Bombs Away. How can sometimes deal like crappy 500 damage and sometimes like 16K damage? Isn't Lazy Shell suposed to make you suck at attacking but a really good defense? It does make your damage very inconsistent though so I don't know if this is suposed to be like that.

This is because of the way chip damage is calculated.

That invincibility effect is used now for No Status effects and No Insta-KO. You can see that effect happens the same when you use a Dayzee syrup, the only difference is that Celebi will grant you Full Restore + Status protection + No insta-KO + Auto Life + Extra turn and Attack Up for the whole party, while Dayze Syrup only gives you Status Protection + No insta KO and Attack up to one party member

 

I noticed this new version has no Defense/Magic Defense up, btw. Defense command is a must and new strategy for some or, if not, all of the bosses

They are probably weak because you didn't Hold Y properly. I used to struggle with this back when Meteor needed to Hold Y for power.  Just Hold Y the moment you see the dialog telling you to do it, and then stop holding it a few frames after the third star shows up

Only the last one alive will mega evolve.

This was probably done so that players won't have to deal with 2 mega evolved pokémon at once.

By status protection you mean poison, disable, sleep, etc., right? Because you can still be affected by attacks that lower your Attack or Defense like Ultima or Dark Matter.

There's a difference between status ailments and stat reducing. Status ailments affect the character portrait, stat reducing adds icons next to the portrait.

I see. Attacks that reduces your stats are the ones that their damage display flashes red, right? But there are also some attacks that flashes blue like Diamond Saw, but that doesn't seem to reduce anything. Is there something I'm missing?

Just look at the icons next to the character portraits.

Also, there's a bug-made-feature where if you resist the element of something, any negative effects it would cause are negated.

Their HP seems lower than previous versions, and i like how the item inventory strat is different now. You pretty much wont need Kerocolas 3 in this fight anymore

I don't know about that. You still need Kerokerocolas unless you stack yourself with Hyper M. Guards.

Well, Final Elixirs were quite helpful for me because it revives all your party members, full restores you and recharges all your FP. Half of my inventory were Final Elixirs while the other half were Hyper M. Guards and Celebi and Galaxy Stars

 

And then i used Mario, Geno and Bowser with all their bonus levels on Defense/Attack because they are the "tankiest" characters in this version. Geno was always using "Defend" while Bowser and Mario were doing the whole work, they both had above 570 defense with double turn. Ultimate Hammer is way better choice than Galaxy Shell in this fight because you can sometimes take two lives with his double turn advantage.

I have been absolutely addicted to your release of version nine SMBRPGArmageddon. I have successfully made it through every super boss in this game and am only left to complete the FF Boss Rush. After I defeat the first wave of Cactaur the game transitions to a black screen where it freezes while still playing the background music. Has anyone else had this issue?!

Im so close to finishing this and getting my life back! haha

it was a simple mistake on my part. It was caused by battling May before doing the boss rush. To fix this, you need to lose that fight with the cactuars and select not to continue. Enter it again and it should be fine. This will be fixed in the official upload.

Correction: This has been fixed in the official final upload.  Unfortunately, it's not compatible with the preliminary release.

Doesn't the save file still work say if you changed the file name of the current version to match the name of the save file or would that have the same effect as putting the hack on a already hacked smrpga?

It does, but not as intended.

Sorry if this is a known issue, this is my first time playing Armageddon.  I have had multiple instances of the game sort-of freezing (music and background keep going but game no longer responds to buttons) while in the equipment menu.  Selecting Mallow's weapon slot when he doesn't have one (first time was an accident, others were to confirm), and multiple times while trying to change Mario's equipment around (weapons and accessories).  Have been having large amounts of slowdown when multiple enemies moving on the screen as well.  Is this a bad rom issue or is there something I am doing wrong?

If you use any other emulator that's not SNES9x v1.53 or if you patched the game wrong, these weird bugs could happen. If it's not that, then it's probably a legit new glitch. About the slowdowns, I would say it's because you're PC it's not powerful enough, but I'm pretty sure you can run a SNES emulator even on a pentium 2. If it's not bad ROM patching, then I don't know.

Any version of snes9x works, however, you should never use an older version than 1.53, just in case those have issues.

Perfect, updated the emulator and no issues at all. Thanks guys!  Never occurred to me to look for updates for the emulator.

In normal mode, why does Bowyer take so little damage from Mario's specials? He's suposed to be weak to fire, but I'm only dealing like 36 damage with Fire Orb, 35 with Ice Orb, and 40 with Jump. That doesn't make any sense. Bowyer still takes decent damage with Flame Staff though.

I don't remember the magic stat, but I was level 20 with only two bonuses for Magic and I had the Hammer equipped.

I know it bumps up your magic like 30, but still. It seems really odd that you would only deal 30 damage with a fire attack.

If I got my multipliers right, 30 magic attack is a difference of around 750 damage on Fire Orb against Bowyer.

This is more like a balancing issue regarding the final boss of the FF Boss Rush.

Terra does this thing where she does Black Hole->Riot Blade everytime after a certain number of hits. There should be a cue (a charging animation like some bosses do) that will let you know when she's about to do this attack pattern, because the only way to survive this is by guarding. You shouldn't be punished like that for trying to win the fight.

This strat will only work if you guard with your fastest party member and if you luck out with RNG. This is not a viable strat.

Just always defend with Geno, heal with Peach, and attack with your attacker. You might want to use a Found Illision or 2 just to be safe.

Hello I'm stuck @ the rematch with Axem Red the battle goes smoothly until mack and Bowyer appear then the battle menu glitches and any further move freezes the game. Is this a known glitch or an emulator failure.

I believe that was an issue with the initial release of normal mode back when it was still called the content mode.

It should be fixed in the latest update.

I recall that being in the alpha.

(Sorry for triple quoting) I solved the issue by getting the latest version however after smithy the game froze on the star screen (I was on PAL) and trying to correct the issue the game erased my save file I spent all day yesterday getting back to where I was I dont know what to do now I just wanted the post game content.

You must use the patch on the US version of the game, otherwise it won't work.

Sorry I wasnt clear I'm was using US rom from but its known to freeze @ johnny Jones & the Axem ranger stars was told to click Pal option (using zsnes) on my emulator to medigate this and it worked so  I left the option on and will the finale just froze. I'll give it another go this weekend. Thanks for your info.

You must use Snes9X 1.53+.  ZSNES is a garbage emulator that doesn't emulate SMRPG properly.

Hi, recently beaten all I could find in armageddon v9. Uh just kinda dropping a few notes of what i noticed through m y playthrough. Overall I really enjoyed the experience of playing this mod of the game! There are a few fights before approaching valentina (nimbus land) whilst in nimbus castle (whatever its called) that there were a few video glitches mid fight... nothing too serious i guess. One problem i did have was during the 'trial boss rush' that rosalina gives you there were several fights that I could not use peach's morning star move just because of some sort of lag. (Couldn't time the move properly because of it). I have a really powerful computer so just figured i'd throw this out there. Thanks darkkefla for bringing back the first rpg of my childhood back to life!

Glad you enjoyed it!  This is the first I've heard of lag in the trial mode... what fights did it happen?

Yeah I loved this. Like maybe 20-22 years ago at the young age of 8 i found smrpg in my cousins snes and fell in love with the game. Having a lot of experience with ff7 through ffx on playstation I really felt this mod is just a beauty!

I went back and rebeat the trial mode. The explosion that occurs with peach's morning star move seems to expand at different rates of speed in different fights. I think its partially maybe just me... and being specific with that slight delay once the explosion is fully expanded can kinda mess with ya... but if you get a chance to try the dodo, valentina, and birdo i think it seemed to be the one i struggled using the morning star.

I'm really unsure if I 'patched' or placed the ips file correctly or not. After doing some reading in 'normal' mode you don't get repeat items like the galaxy ring. But after beating the trial mode I indeed got another galaxy ring. What little research i've done all I did was took the original smrpg rom and placed the new (normal) ips file beside it and renamed the (normal) ips file as the exact same name as the original rom...

What little research i've done all I did was took the original smrpg rom and placed the new (normal) ips file beside it and renamed the (normal) ips file as the exact same name as the original rom...

Normal mode is blue.  Content is green.

Toadstool's Ultima special is broken. It did a loop of the animation forever and had to load state.

Considering neither Toadstool nor Ultima is in v9, I'm guessing something went wrong when patching.

Yes, I am using Snes9x 1.53

Does bad checksum mean something went wrong when patching? I went and got another download copy to patch and that happened.

I found a glitch in the doom cake boss where you're unable to target it, but you're able to target the special tab's text and character text?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's the same problem as the other issues you've seen.  How are you patching the rom?

I'm using Lunar IPS to patch the rom.

No, the US rom I deleted because that's what softlocked me at the ship.

Use the US rom, make sure it's dated at 1996, and delete any save file or save state that would be loaded.

It led me to my previous save, are you sure deleting it will fix the softlock?

Yes.  Trying to use a corrupted save file will only result in strange bugs, including missing objects.

is saving over a file gonna work? I did that and the exact same file appeared when I downloaded another boxes were still empty.

No, you have to completely delete your save data.

Dont know if this is the right place to ask but here goes. How come in some copies/versions of V9 Normal Mode show blinking damage numbers and others dont. Ive seen most of Nitros videos and his copy shows them but mine doesnt?

I believe you're referring to a beta for v9 where full break was indicated by the numbers flashing.  This relied on an emulator bug in Snes9X though, so it was replaced with the shield icon.

ah ok, makes sense. 

It was present in the old normal mode, but removed in content mode and the new normal mode.

That was actually the beta for content mode, before it was decided to make it significantly easier.

Not really a bug, but Rikku says "...I'm you're girl" and not "...I'm your girl".

I don't think this next one is wrong, but every time I scroll past it, it just feels off. Yoshi says "...looks like you're off to another adventure". Would "...looks like you're off on another adventure" sound more natural? Not a complaint or anything, at this point I'm genuinely curious now if I'm totally wrong in thinking the former sounds awkward. ;p

Oh, I guess I did find one bug, but it was super rare. When using Geno's Spritz Bomb on a starslap in Rose Way, one of the bombs kinda rolled weird and never blew up, and the game softlocked, lol. Only happened once and I didn't try for very long to see if I could have it happen again, but it was pretty amusing.

May is missing an arm in her battle sprite, lol.

I just created my account for this and im not sure if its a bug or not but how come mesprit is ice and azeif is fire. Going by their color I would assume they were to be vice versa and the fact that Azeif is in the ice cave and all.  (sorry if this was metioned before just wanted to say something)

Hello, I'm new to playing this Rom Hack. It's wonderful I love it but what happens is, have a little problem that won't let me advance in the game. The thing is, after I defeated the Axem Rangers, I went to Marshmallow to talk to malow's parents to get access to the Royal Bus. But when I'm going in to talk to them for some reason he won't let me access that room, I went to where the real bus is and he tells me it's under repair, and that's where I got stuck. I can't go on.

I would like to be helped with this error, I am new playing this Rom Hack and I love it. I would like to finish it, I do not know if there is another method to access the Royal Bus but I would like to be given an answer to this, thank you. 

So I don't remember this part of the game, but did you talk to everyone around it or just try the door and the bus? Might give you an answer. Could be in the town as well.

After defeating the Axem Rangers I went to the room where Malow's parents meet, seeing that he didn't open I talked to the two guards and they told me What they always say, then I went out to see the bus and there was nothing, then I went into the castle and talked to a couple of npc, then tried to get in but nothing. And what city do you mean?

I'd be grateful if you'd give me that answer. 

If you defeated the Axem Rangers, you should trigger a cutscene when you enter the large room in the back of the palace.  After that cutscene, the royal bus will be working.
